Spring Writing
It’s spring here and I’ve been busy with various projects, not all of which are writing related. I have been writing, however. I’m still working on the first draft of Coins of Destiny 3. It’s a difficult write since I need to tie the three-book character and story plot holes together.
I had to stop work on the draft and write a short story for the Creatures, Crimes Conference anthology. and the submission deadline is in April. I hate deadlines that are not my own. This year, the anthology instituted a theme: luck. It was more difficult to come up with story ideas around the theme than I thought it would be. I’m done with the first draft and in the process of rewriting and cutting the story to bring it to the 5k word limit.
I’ve incorporated the theme into a Holmes and Walton mystery. The idea just bloomed, and the characters were a great fit. It’s not as good as I’d hoped, but whatever I do never is. Once I finish, I’ll submit the story, and then complete Coins of Destiny 3. I’ll then take a month off, write something new, and only then edit Coins of Destiny 3. I enjoy writing. It keeps the creatures away and me off the streets,
Word up!
