Importing and Exporting are different than backing up and restoring. Backup and restore backup your entire database of writing. Importing and exporting allows you to select what to deal with (e.g., a single chapter or the entire database) and exporting implies moving the data off of the device, while importing implies pulling data onto the device typically from a desktop or laptop machine.
